PHASE 3 – MOVE ON
MOVE ON
As part of our four phased operation we give residents in Phase 2 accommodation an opportunity to move-on to a shared flat, receiving floating support, further preparing them for independent living.
Stepping Stones Trust (SST) obtained its first move-on accommodation in January 2007. Since then the programme has grown from two beds to eighteen beds in six accommodation units, emphasising the need of this facility.
In order for an ex-offender to move-on to Phase 3 he must be in good standing through being,
- Up to date with payments such as service charges and loans
- Engaging in keyworking support
- Positive in looking for work opportunities
- Engaging in volunteer mentoring support (encouraged, but not compulsory)
This structure enables our service users to develop skills to support themselves in a safe and healthy environment.
The ex-offenders will stay in Phase 3 for at least a year, benefiting from floating keyworking support along with investment from volunteer mentors. Together, this will help build on skills the client has been developing in previous phases of the programme. Since there is no overnight support in Phase 3, the ex-offenders become more independent and responsible for making positive life decisions, further preparing them for independent living.
SST closely monitors all our Phase 3 residents and will only move them onto the next phase if they are thoroughly prepared.
